1. Operating Principle and Applications
Centralizers are tools used to center casing during cementing,especially in directional and high-angle wells.They prevent cement slurry channeling and reduce the risk of casing sticking by keeping the casing from touching the wellbore wall.This helps avoid sticking from filter cake and reduces casing wear during drilling.
2. Elastic Centralizer
Elastic centralizers,made of spring steel,have large deformation and strong support when expanded.They adapt to wellbore enlargements and are used for primary cementing in vertical and deviated wells.Formed by laser cutting and pressing seamless steel pipes,they meet APl 10D standards for low starting force and high restoring force.
3. Rigid Centralizer
Rigid centralizers can rotate and slide on the casing or be fixed in place with screws or rings.Made of cast steel,cast aluminum, or hardened resin,their dimensions are fixed.They have helical or straight ribs and can be customized with rollers for different casing sizes and wellbore conditions.Rigid centralizers provide high support and low starting force but require a wellbore without reduced diameter sections and may hinder casing rotation during cementing.They are mainly used in deviated or horizontal wells, and rarely in vertical wells due to their smaller diameter.
